Just wondered Jay, not heard of anyone complaining of not being able to twist a falco open fast enough, the throttle movement is only about 30 degrees from nowt to flat out so why would anyone pay £160 for what a fool can do in seconds,
Also about £100 less buys you the dogs bollox EPROM

Not wishing this thread to piss on Frank's parade, I did fit a quick action throttle to my 400/4 - it made a very good improvement. However the 400/4 was about 2 full handfuls from closed to open before I fitted the quick action throttle.

Fitted one to the Falco. For me it was a major "performance" upgrade because with the standard one, I was rarely using more than half throttle, even on track days down the straits. Now the same comfortable wrist twist can get get nearly full. With the Gabro chip I'm still finding it quite manageable in the slippy conditions.

Re falboy's comment above - My habit of having my fingers on the brake and clutch levers at all times means that I roll the throttle on with only my thumb which on such quick bikes works well enough generally but means I struggle to open it up fully.

I'd really like one for the BM cafe racer as far worse than two or three twists to get it fully open, is the two or three attempts to close it peeling in.

You have your fingers covering th clutch and brake levers constantly? isn't that highly uncomfortable?

Fingers on the clutch came from early years riding then racing 2 strokes.

No, I'm used to it and can twist the throttle and or brake without changing my grip on the bars. I feel more comfortable like that than being exposed to the lag of unwrapping my fingers and getting on the brake lever when anticipating the unexpected. On track it probably costs me time but I don't do that very often and habbits established by many years of road riding, are hard to change.

I bought the throttle assembly 2cnd hand from one of the rsv boys, can't remember for how much but it was probably around £50 and felt like an extra 20 BHP everywhere.

I've found on quite a few occasions, on that initial twist away from the lights there's about 5deg or so of travel left, which needs me to readjust my grip on the throttle. Possibly because, at the lights, I'm covering the front brake, rather than wrapping my hand further round the throttle. So a quick-action would be a benefit, that said the front still lifts a bit as I'm pulling away, so do I need the extra juice?

OK HisNibbs, you've made me aware of a perspective I'd not considered, as far as falco's go.
I have fitted whirlpool throttles to various Brit twins I've owned in the past, quicker to squash nearly 2 inches of return spring above the carb slide.
I wouldn't fit a fast action throttle to my bike because I find it scarey enough when I hit an unexpected bump and get that unplanned wrist twist,and my hands simply are not large enough to ride like you do.

Dont worry its fine - I only started this thread after seeing someone needed a new throttle and thought it might be a cheaper new alternative than anything from Aprilia.
