webby thing freecycle.org/display.php?region=United%20Kingdom
I likes this - it works
join up in your local area, post a yahoo note with what you no longer want - and someone emails you back, comes to collect and POW!! space appears

I signed up to our local one a couple of weeks ago.
They use yahoo groups (ugh!), but I persevered. Took a while to actually get around to posting anything - but it's great!
Yesterday a guy came along to pick up some surplus glass bricks that I offered, and I'm going to collect a CO2 gas bottle tonight that I posted a wanted ad for.
It's a great idea. :)

I gave it ago, but got confused on how to post something up, so I gave up.
Seems like a good idea though.
It will be abused by the people getting something for nothing, and then selling it on ebay.
Just off to make my millions...............

My ex got into freecycle in a big way. Yeah, she got rid of some crap, but then she filled the place up with _more_ crap. When I was over last to see our son, you could barely move for all the junk piled everywhere.
As XJR Jason pointed out, people do abuse it. But they seem to get caught out pretty quickly.
