what is a good price

#1 Post by Tonyunn » Fri Dec 19, 2014 6:03 pm

The last time I rode the bike my left boot got oil all over it, I knew straight away the oil filler plug had failed again, ptfe tape didn't work.

So I bought an alloy filler plug for £20, it looks great and is nice and tight but is it worth it.

I suppose it comes down to the basic thing of it it works then yes, but it's difficult to look at it and say thats a bargain.

With the O-ring?

Mine disappeared once after I over looked that little item.

Agree with Twinkie....
If you don't have the 'o'ring fitted then the new shiney plug will work loose, your left boot will get covered again.....

I know I'm stating the bleedin' obvious - but wasn't that a very expensive O ring?

For the benefit of clarity, I had an O ring I think the problem was the oil plug filler was plastic and the threads were gone, it never really felt tight and I think the oil was passing under pressure through the threads.

I think in the past someone had put the filler in badly and forced it tight cutting a new thread.

Phone picture, hence quality.

That puts a different light on it.

Does it keep the oil in and at the same time look posh? If so then I'd say it was worth it. I quite like the plastic ones with 710 on. Must be a common part cause all bikes seem to have the same number.

£20 is loose change mate! I lose that sort of cash running for a bus, isn't there any way of fitting 2 :smt002 :smt002
