Starter Sprag Clutch questions
Hi Guys.
I think my sprag is on its way out. I have recently had problems starting it, checked/changed battery (not that) changed starter relay as voltage in, nothing out when button pressed. Anyway that cured it for a very short time! So wouldn't start again, cleaned up the contacts all around relay etc. and got it going... it stopped again yesterday. Again, power into starter relay, nothing out. Then with no reason it fired off the button again (???) anyway, with that I had grinding/knocking during start up... suggesting sprag going. Few questions -
1. I have been quoted £234 + VAT just for starter sprag clutch... that seems steep, is it?
2. Where is the sprag clutch located?
3. Is it a big job?
4. How much should I expect to pay to get this done?
And the big one. Due to lack of funds (with wedding coming), space and time if I decided to let it go as is, would anyone be interested?

Let it go Really????? Done three sprag clutches now mate.
234+ vat is that fitted?
You can get a sprag from griff for around 80 quid.
To know where its located read this.... https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.php?t=4473
With sprag, stator cover gasket oil and filter you are looking at around 125 quid for everything.
It takes someone with experience around 2-3 hours.
Alternatively bring it to me. A good bottle of scotch should be about right

Tolerance will be our undoing.
The sprag clutch is around £80/90.
It is not a complicated job but can become complicated if you get it wrong.
Needs a bit of know how ect.
My advice is to get in touch with Blinkey and bribe the man with his chosen bottle of single malt, far better than the price you have been given !
PS, think your starting problems are what killed the sprag so a little look over may be needed

Re: Starter Sprag Clutch questions
I would like to thank Jay (Blinkey501...) for his help and patients on Saturday with my Falco. Genuine good guy! So the sprag was fine (so I have a gooden if anyone needs one). He checked my clutch jet for me, changed oil and checked levels etc. and removed the problematic immobiliser system which seems to have been my starting problem. Fingers crossed all done. Thanks Jay!!blinkey501 wrote:MattG#116 wrote:Hi Guys.
