On going major pain in the arse

#1 Post by fatboy » Sun Aug 31, 2014 5:50 pm

2 months ago my debit card was cancelled by the bank as they believed the card had been copied.
Replacement card arrived, new 16 digit number, same pin. Chip and pin work fine, card number when used on line or over phone does not work ( paypal, dvla tax disc ect).
Bank say cant find a problem and never heard of this before, a scheduled payment on my card fails and I incur a penalty,
Bank says repeat of above, more failed attempts to use card on phone, I ask for new card as replacement does not work.
New card arrives, same problem, bank says Nothing to do with us, all sorted here, another failed payment, another penalty.
There must be some sort of block on my card, this is stopping me get everyday stuff done :smt013 :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Take time to book appointment with bank manager

Setup laptop with dongle etc

Show the problem

Demand solution

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Banks and other large organisations are very good at taking money from us, but very reluctant to give it back when things go wrong. Hence why I have pre-pay meters for gas and electricity in my house as they never got a bill right. Ok, it may be costing me a few bob more each year, but I'd rather that than have them take £300 more than they should from my account and leave in the shite for the six months it takes it claw it back..

*breathe, Will.. C'mon son!*

Anyway. The secret to dealing with banks and big business is to never back down. There is obviously an issue, and it needs to be sorted. If you're not getting the answers you desire, mention the Current Account Switch Service. They'll soon get it sorted. :smt002
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

If it has happened twice with two different cards it has to be related to the bank system or to your use of the security system that some of them use. Best answer is to change banks - it will be easier than finding someone in authority who will get off their bum and solve the problem.
