Possible meet for 2015

#1 Post by blinkey501 » Fri Jun 27, 2014 6:00 am

Having been up near Hexam earlier this week I found a campsite that would be good for a Ridersite meet.
This would allow people around the north east area easy access to this meet.
The area is between Newcastle and Carlisle and situated near Hadrians wall and Kielder water.
This would also allow easier access from some of the Scottish members.
The area has some stunning scenery and some fantastic roads for the Saturday run out.
Just putting the feelers out to see if anyone would be interested in attending this meet.
The campsite details are here.

Having talked to a couple of the admins it has been decided that mid august 2015 would be best to kick off this meet.
What are your thoughts?

As someone who plays up there pretty much every weekend I can recommend the roads, hospitality and scenery. It would be fantastic if you could site the meet a little further north.

Looks like a decent site, and I'm told there's some good roads up there. Would be up for it, but mid-August is my usual holiday time, so would have to see closer to time. Good find though Blinkey

Looks like there are plenty of trees to burn :smt003 But whats the local wildlife like?? Are the sheep good looking? :smt007 ( only asking for you Random Squid !)

The only problem is getting an organiser , would have thought its easier if you're local.
I don't care if you lick windows,
Take the special bus
Or occasionally pee on yourself.
You hang in there sunshine, you're special!

Yup, looks doable. I'm getting less fussy about how pretty the sheeps are in my old age. If no one wants to cart stuff about we could always do camping the old fashioned way.
Where ever I lay my hat.....

As per prev. discussions on the subject, maybe this is a situation to use Youth Hostels?? if there is one not too far away from the area mentioned.
Then you wouldn't have to worry about cooking facilities, showers fridge (for the beer) etc.etc. as it would be already in place along with soft beds, real toilets etc.
Not the same, and we wouldn't be able to burn the furniture, they would notice but its worth a thought, you can even hire some of these places that have camping barns as sole occupancy if there is enough peeps

just a thought :smt006

Maybe something like this

They have a BBQ at this one, it is more expensive than camping but....

Hi tony. Just to let you know this is three hours from where I live?
Aladinsane did mention through phone conversation that he would like to attend but it will be six hours for him.
Martdude and squid live another hour away from me?
Please believe me that when I say this that yes I do want this meet, and I could do the catering with assistance. I am trying to organise this so some of the northern members can attend?
If anyone would like to organise a meet so I can pitch and sit back all weekend that would be a different matter. :smt002
Anyone who attends a Ridersite meet always looks forward to the next. :smt003

That one
It flies sideways through time
It's an electric line

We had a touring caravan when our kids were young and used that site a couple of times. Lovely setting and a good suggestion by Jay, especially if it allows fires or fire pits. Nick's kind provision of the fire pit at Trentham was a great centre piece for the evening's nonsense. The site is ideally placed for me so, in principle, I'd be interested.

This one would be in addition to the mid year meet so best of both worlds. :smt002

Unfortunately its 340 miles & 7 hours with the stops I'de have to make with my still recovering from cancer so, I'm afraid this Southerner is out - hope you have a great time though :smt002

Don't worry, Jay, I certainly wasn't planning it instead of Trentham! As my inaugural Ridersite Meet, that one is in the diary again for 2015.
