Meanwhile, not at the mid year meet

#1 Post by spiderwheels » Sat Jun 21, 2014 11:31 pm

So while you're all been enjoying the mid year meet, myself, who is not known for being a masochist, decided to strip down the thoroughly seized 6-pot Tokicos on the ZX6 I picked up last Tuesday (I just had a weird moment on ebay on Sunday..). 6-pots are definitely 2 too many and make the whole job 50% longer.. It looks like some ejit has tried to pull the pistons out with pliers in the past.

All sorted now and aside from having all the mid-range guts of a week old lettuce it's a sweet ride. At least it comes with the correct springs for a 150lb rider straight out of the factory..

That job was finished around mid-afternoon and then it was more of the same with my brothers £600 why-the-hell-did-the-previous-owner-not-even-take-the-bodywork-off-the-bike-before-spraying-it-hideous-orange project. Luckily that's the older model and only had 4 pots and weren't as seized. The binding was causing the pistons to retract too far and the lever coming back to the bar.

I used to have a CB500 with Brembos and they never seized even with a few years of salty winter neglect. I hope the Falco's Brembos are the same. Not that I'm going to ride it in salty winter. I'm too old for that sh*t..
