NO START on dash display

#1 Post by fatboy » Thu May 29, 2014 7:05 pm

Tip over switch ?
whilst working through my various non running issues, the switch gave a resistance reading of 3 ohms rather than 52 to 72, the desired value.
I replaced the switch with a 68 ohm resistor so Im guessing Maplins ripped me off for 36p and the resistor don't work ?

Mythbuster:
Despite the popular view that "NoStart" on the dash means the Tip Over switch is at fault ...... it DOESN'T

No Start just means that it has failed to start having been thumbing the starter for a significant period of time.

Sometimes this can be because the tip over switch has indicated a tip-over but it can be for a multitude of different reasons

Well Im delighted to report the No Start was indeed the tip switch this time. I cleaned up a few contacts, removed the newly wired in resistor in readiness to test when I returned with new battery for multi meter...
Couldn't find correct battery for multimeter so with tip switch bodge removed I pressed the starter and...
BABABABABABA.. the fucking thing roared into life :smt003
But now I have EFI on dash display, probably because the sodding switch is not connected :smt009

Just in front of the battery. It's a little black box (a bit like a relay) on a rubber mount.
