well, am thinking of doing this next week so, some guidance please

I have a standard mille swing arm, lovingly polished and ready to go - ish

I have all the mounting plates, and i do have a white spring shock already

now humour me, as i need to ask these questions

the swingarm has the rubber bush/bearings in it and all seems good there BUT - I only have the rod/bar/bolt on my falco, not the one off the mille - so do i have to change that?

am i correct in thinking that all i have to do is remove my old swing arm, split and shorten my chain, fit the mille swing arm, and refit the chain?

reason why I am asking all this - i NEED to have the bike good to go with in 48 hours of starting the job and just need a few pointers to ensure mr fuckup does not come to visit.....

I had a bare 01 RSV arm, just the arm no bearings no nuthin. Everything on my falco arm went right into the rsv one no problem.
But if I were you I would let the job wait until after what ever happens in 48....I spent a entire weekend doing it.
And I would just replace your chain. I think it needs to get longer rather than shorter.

The swap is straightforward but you'll NEED a 3/8 or 1/4 drive socket set with a universal joint to reach the upper rear header nut. (1/2"" is too big and won't fit). Don't remove the nuts, just loosen them to give some wriggle room. If you've got a 15T front sprocket, the standard chain will fit, just get a new soft link. The Falco swing arm pivot rod fits the Mille arm. It helps if you can get hold of a tool to undo the castellated nut on the pivot rod - a 'Shimano Freewheel removal tool' from a decent bike shop will do the job nicely and costs around 4 quid - much better than a hammer and screwdriver

. It has 4 'dogs' round the circumference which fit the nut. Once the arm is on, you may need to slacken the banjo on the rear calliper and turn it to line up with the arm - the brake line is only just long enough! Other than that, it's just nuts and bolts. Get the back of the bike as high as you can to give yourself plenty of working space. The job took me just over 4 hours, including cleaning a greasing everything along the way.

Dave, I haven't lost it, I'm just waiting for a garage to be built in which to house my bike and it's new swinger.......which should be soon if the builders pull their bloody fingers out!!
