Two into one exhaust

#1 Post by falco_phil » Fri May 02, 2014 12:12 pm

Apologies if this has been covered - but I've been searching for a couple of days and can't find the info I'm looking for... I would like to switch to a single end-can (I have a tasty akra titanium one) but don't want to change headers / oil tank. I've read various posts about modified mille mid-sections to achieve this but nothing that says what the nature of those modifications are?? Furthermore, will I be lynched / disowned by this noble brotherhood for doing this to an oasis green?

Yes I've done it. If you want to keep the Falco headers and oil tank then talk to Greg-D - his mate can make the necessary mods to a mille mid-section (from the later of the Gen 1 Mille exhausts)

Why not do it to an Oasis - it's not an irreversible change - exhausts can be swapped back later if and when required

Your bike, you do what you want to it. Members of this "noble brotherhood" have done worse... like buying yellow ones

Noble brotherhood????

Talk to fuel exhausts - they made a single can iirc for andy

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

But what are said mods? Does the midpipe need chopping about to line up with the falco headers? And early / later gen1 mille pipes are different (I was wondering, peering at pictures on fleabay)?

Thanks!

Yes some significant re-aligning of the mid section as the Falco and Mille front headers are very different.

and yes, the early and late Gen 1 Mille mid sections are very different - that's why I said to use the late one.

Top is Falco system
Bottom is later Gen1 Mille
(both are mine BTW - though neither as currently fitted)

While you are having them done, you may as well get the 2 link pipe mods added to improve the power characteristics too.

Above is shown the later Gen1 Mille Mid section with the 2 link pipe mods (these are modified by MHP and done correctly - I've seen plenty on the web and forums where the positioning and angles of the link pipes are all wrong - obviously done by people who can weld but don't have a clue about how the mod works)

What Greg and I now have is like this but with the mid-section pipe to the front header realigned to mate with the Falco front header.
(not got a pic of that one)

Am I right in saying the swingarm needs changing for a mille arm? :smt017

You mean there are people that don't have a Mille swinging arm :smt017

TBH can't remember. I never had that combo myself.

I tried to fit the combination of a falco swinger with the mille system and it was a no go.
I wondered if anybody had tried and not failed? :smt017

I too would be very interested to hear if anyone has managed to fit a single exit exhaust with the standard swingarm, as I have no plans to change my 'arm.
