My phone is too clever for me

#1 Post by BikerGran » Tue May 15, 2007 4:31 pm

There's a symbol or icon showing on the screen that I don't understand!

Had a look at the vodafone/Sony Ericssohn online user guide and it's not on their list. I haven't seen it before so I guess it's trying to tell me something!

It's just above the lines that show the signal strenth, and it looks like a rocket or arrow or flagpole or maybe an aerial?

/\ << a bit like that! with what appears to be a squared-off G next to it - but it's so damn small I can't be sure what I'm looking at!

Any ideas anyone?

They're too clever for 99% of the population.

Have you done any web browsing on it?

And

If so did you disconnect afterwards.

It's not 3G.

Haven't done any web browsing intentionally - but I'll check that out!

You don't have a GPRS account do you? (This is the one used by older phones to send data, such as MMS messages. Newer phones use 3G or 'Edge' connections.)

My old T68i had a menu option to select between GSM (normal phone circuit) and GPRS. Maybe yours does?

Why on earth cant they produce a phone for us oldies, nice big buttons, big screen, long battery life and nothing but the ability to make simple cheap phone calls?

I dont want a diary, or e mail. I dont want to surf the net whilst sat on the loo, I dont need an alarm clock (dont have to go to work, see!) and I dont want funny ring tones either, nor all the games etc

You would think they would introduce one, wouldnt you? After all, we have way more dosh than the kids have :smt020

Whilst looking for a new phone a while ago I asked the sales girl for exactly that and her reply "oh, we don't do those anymore". . . Think I must be getting old :smt011
