getting heated

#1 Post by lazarus » Sun Jan 12, 2014 5:56 pm

Risk here is that I'm "teaching granny to suck eggs" but heyho!

Went off down to the club yesterday. It was 1.5C but I was toasty warm on the bike thanks to a BMW heated waistcoat I was given by an old pal and my new Tucano muffs. Seriously warm - had to turn the waistcoat down to min ( what is the max setting for? The Russians steppes I suppose being German :smt003 ) and the same with the heated grips.

The muffs really are great. Riding with summer gloves and warm hands in winter is brilliant, and the cost of the muffs isnt much more than a half decent pair of winter gloves anyway. Only issue is that I didnt realise how often I must look down at the bars to find some of the less often used controls, so I'm OK groping in the dark for indicators and starter button but even the headlight dipper and the horn are more of a fumble away.

Anyway, without wishing to sound like a salesman, the muffs are recommended.

I know a fair few that swear by handlebar muffs.
TBH, if they take away the distraction of freezing, hurting pinkies then that is a good thing.
Just hate the look of em though !

Hisnibs added some shields to his bike to protect his hands against the cold. I have seen them mounted to the bike and they work well. I am sure when he comes on to the forum he could post some pics :smt002

Yep I did and posted up pictures a couple of years ago. Can I do an Andy and suggest use of the search function. They take the bite out of the wind chill, IMO look good and don't interfere with the controls. Muffs are warmer though.
