Falco Tank Bag

#1 Post by crosstowntraffic » Wed May 09, 2007 12:18 pm

Need to get a tank bag for my trip to France and was wondering if anyone here has experience of the Aprilia one, and if so whats it like. Need something thats not too big, has a map pocket on the top and is easily removed at petrol stations. Or can anyone recommend any others. Thanks.

the falco one is very good get loads in it and a map pocket on top easily removed for fuel. failing that whoosh is selling his baglux on ebay.

Welll Actually, I'm a bit disappointed with my Aprilia one. I find it causes turbulance around my helmet. In fact I'm probably using it as a tailpack next month down to Spain.
I'm not 100% it is the tankbag as last time I had a smaller tankbag, on a firestorm, and a different helmet, but the turbulance isn't there when the tankbag is off. :smt012

Cheers for the ad fastasfcuk ! - But the Baglux tank cover is no longer for sale. Still on eBay is my old baglux tank bag (with my other Falco stuff) that fits on the tank cover, but it does not have a transparent map pocket in it like the moderm ones.

FlyingKiwi - I can really recommend the Baglux tank covers, they protect the tank and give you a nice non slip surface for to grip on - have a look at www.bagster.com. They have some new low profile ones too - I'm looking at the new Minea or Minisign for my new Sprint.

If you want a pic of one on give me an e-mail and I'll send you one

I have one but haven't done a serious trip with it yet. Very soon though :smt003

I can say that it fits superbly - totally solid but the straps that hook onto the frame get in the way a little if you like to grip the tank with your knees. Also the map pocket is fairly narrow so is of limited use. But it does expand - is well made and looks good. I hope it is a bit waterproof as there is no cover! No side pockets which I would have liked but it has a small pocket on top for bits / change / condoms or whatever.

Overall I think I like it :smt003

..........but will review this upon return from France.

being a tight wad, i bought a magnetic one from Aldi. cost £17, sewed a oxford non slip map to the bottom, and just took it on 2 week trip with no problems, has a good rain cover built in, and a strap that goes under the tank, and one round the head stock.
comes in 2 parts, and i only used the main top one, it was to big with both. push forward to fuel up. un clip 4 buckles to remove. has 3 pockets, 2 side and one handy back one for change. plus map pocket on top. might not be up there with top brands but did me fine.

Thanks for the offer Gio. I have a cover for my Buffalo magnetic bag so I'll try that for fit first.

On further intense investigation (late night surfing) and because I don't want one thats too big I am now going for the SW Motech Day pack 2 with additional map holder that clips on to a quick lock tank ring that mounts onto the filler cap. No straps no bungees and they have one that fits the Aprilia 6 screw filler cap.

Same as me xrphil. I use some bungees on the back down through the tunnel in the frame beneath the seat. Cross them over and they don't cut into your legs. As you say, put all of it together and it's far too tall.

..... I do wish I had something a bit more convenient though.

Looking at buying that set up myself. Is it anygood ? plenty of carrying space ? etc.

A review would be nice and where you purchased it.

Fathers day coming soon :smt003
