Got a puncture....

Hey folks....

Got a puncture the other week, a nice shiny nail, magic....
I bought the Remu puncture repair kit, the one that is temporary fix and not to exceed 60kmh or whatever....

When fitting the plug, ensure you have far more than enough glue stuff as it also acts as a lube to get the plug in, failure to apply enough will result in a split plug...trust me...

anyway... Ive been drinking...

I fitted the remu funny shaped plug... the bike has held a good pressure ever since.... I've been for a proper ride... Had the clocks at 145 and the plug held.

Anyway, just giving my experience. A temporary plug that acts as a permanent so far.... Comes with 3 air cans which in all honesty will probably need used if you were to break down at road side. The kit comes with everything you need....

Thought I'd share my experiences.......

Also planning to streetfighter the Falco over the winter... all without any damage to Falco parts.... Shall keep you all posted....

Good post - same experience here really.

Always happens on a tyre with good tread!

I rode a few hundred miles with a repair but ultimately changed it - just didnt trust the repair to last.

Always good to hear a fix that works, but get that plug checked out dude,
A blow out at Falco speeds would not be good.
I spilled across all 3 lanes of the M5 near Bridgewater after a rear blowout, believe me its not on my things to do again list.

I plugged my er6 back tyre with one of those oblong with a hole in do it yourself kits about 5000 miles ago. Never let any air out. Stayed put at indicated three figure speeds (like today on that airstrip on the way home).

Sounds like those plug kits work then !
Guess the manufacturer/supplier is covering his ass by stating its a temp repair only

To be fair, the tyre isn't a million miles from its scrap heap days. Chances are I'll change them over the winter, depends how's money goes regarding the project.
I'll certainly be buying another kit just in case.

Those kits are great IF you can find the hole in the tyre. I had one once where the thing that made the hole was long gone when I tried to fix it. It took ages to locate the hole - foot pump and soapy water (which don't tend to be that plentiful at the side of the road)

Best to get it plugged with a permanent plug ASAP as well (though tyre fitters won't repair all tyres)


TBH the best thing to do is to get Nooj to put some of his special gunge in the tyres that instantly fixes the puncture as soon as it happens.


BTW One of these might be a good investment - looks as though it should fit under the seat:

If I'm being honest... I won't go and get it fixed, I'll leave it to see if it comes out or let's air out before I change the tyre. Not that I'm not listening to advice but I want to see how good this plug is and how it lasts. Someone's got to.
If I can't find what causes the puncture then I'd phone the AA to take me home, its why I pay them. 2 or 3 years now and still never used them.

Tyres will probably be changed over the winter with pirelli Rossi 2.

I don't like gunge... Its more stuff to clean when I change the tyres. :smt003

I'm happy to say that if I got a road side puncture and used this, nipped into agarage to check pressures... Id then continue that days blast with my mates.

Indeed; and that's one of the major disadvantages of gunge as far as I'm concerned. Even without that drawback, I really wouldn't fancy cleaning the stuff off the rim when it was time to change tyres.

I've used holts tyreweld before too in a car.... And left it for months... Such a rebel me. Hahaha.
I'd rather have this under my seat than tyreweld though. I change my own tyres and have no interest in cleaning... Or filling with beads if I'm honest.

I'm going to use the last remaining plug on my car tyre... See if it works there too... Hahaha
