despite what we were told Jay - we were talking with a local earlier in the year, I suspect its gone for good

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I wouldn't give up hope just yet - these things have a habit of being taken over and rising from the ashes.

The rent is the key

And the restrictions will mean it would be very hard to run a business

I don't want to be pessimistic but maybe the landlord wants to sell to, or become a developer.

That's my suspicion. The landlord realises he can make a lot more money selling the site to a developer, and has raised the rent to an unsupportable level to get the circuit to throw in the towel. Couple that with a load of new incomers who want rid of the track, and another old race track bites the dust.

Quote from my post in July -
As I read it elsewhere, the meeting to make the decision was last night.
It went the wrong way and the Council are to prosecute Mallory Park Circuit for five alleged breaches in August and September 2012.
The 1985 legislation only allows for 92 days per year and they regularly breach this number. The circuit owners have told the Council that the circuit cannot be viable with just 92 days a year, so they cannot continue.
The Council have said that the would allow many more days if the noise could be seriously reduced, (track days with standard cans and standard air boxes suit anybody).

A spokesman for the circuit said: “We are currently reviewing the decision taken by the council and we are hoping to issue a statement later.”

A spokesman for the council said: “The executive decided unanimously to follow the recommendation for action.”

Obviously it would have been a very difficult for the Council, especially if they were already sure they could grant permission for a nice new housing estate, as the landowner would be in for a fortune.

The Council would also get a big increase in Council Tax revenue.

As I said back in July!

Don't forget, I'm having to shout from Crete!
Plus the internet in the villa only works occasionally.
That's the best excuse I can do Andy.

Good thing is, the weather has been great up to last night.
We had high winds last night and woke up to a swimming pool full of a large sun brolly, 2 sunbeds and all sorts of leaves and general rubbish.
Weather looks like getting better again soon.
Having a nice holiday.
