DIY Radiator covers...

Fancied some radiator covers, but wanted something a little different from the usual mesh-type grills.
That and the fact that the sets on Ebay are £70+ made me decide to sort it myself.
The result;

Well I like em!...
A tenner fer the ally sheet and an hour n a half to 'install'.
'Ay am verry appy'...
Oh, and Ive got a brand new complete set of RSV linkages coming this next week too!

Due the little holes compared to the pitch of them I'm quite sure it blokkes air a lot.....think some 50-60% less fresh air!
If you have the diameter and pitch of the holes you cab calculate the percentage :
(Dia hole x dia hole x 90.69) / (pitch hole x pitch hole) = % air passes true
Say :
D=3mm
pitch=5mm
3x3x90.69/5x5= 33%
So 67% is blokked!
Not a problem if youre watertemp doesnt rise....

Its from the same shop, but a little pricier.
Also, Im not too fussed about the airflow reduction, (though I will be checking to see if shes running any hotter than normal), as the ally sheet will also act as a heat sink like in a PC CPU.

My temp hovers around 66 on the road and the fans dont kick in till 95 or so. Loads of room to boil water

Re the linkages; Im getting both triangles, dogbone and all the bolts as well. A nice German fella is selling his RSV Ohlins on Ebay and I noticed the links attached so a couple of emails later and they are now on their way to me!
Re the radiator guards; Only the bottom guard is actually bolted in place, (using the two V-piece bolts)! The other two are simply precision-cut, (tin snips ), to wedge between the top and bottom 'rails' and then bent round the outside edge of the rad, (they are also wedged in behind the plastic spine-thing that runs up towards the yokes between the two rads). The fairing, (and wind!), holds em in place!

The reason I didnt use the fan-mounting bolts on the backs of each rad, (like the Beowulf set do)? Simple; I ran out of sheet after I tried this...

Bit too Mad Max fer me so I took it straight back out!
One has to try these things...
Think I'll get another sheet n do it all properly, this time using the bolts fer extra security and covering the ram-air inlets as well.

being an impatient sod at the best of times, I wandered down to the local motorworld and invested a whole 15 drinking vouchers in some mesh

now cut to fit, and just waiting on DHL to deliver the new belly pan....

diy store mesh for tenner cut to fit simple had it on mine since i got it
10 min job bellypan then stick it with sealant
