Friday 13th

#1 Post by Firestarter » Sat Sep 14, 2013 7:00 am

So I managed to get past the day without anything bad happening. But, I did finish work early and go for a rideout, down to Rhug in North Wales (http://www.rhug.co.uk/), hoping for a bison burger.

Just pulled up, a few yards from a very nice looking Triumph 675R in white. Just heading up to the grill, when the guy shouts me back, warning me about leaving my bike. Wandered over to his, and found that his brand-new, only 500-mile bike had been knocked over in the car park. Nothing broken, but scratched on pretty much every panel. Guy was understandably gutted. I made a hasty retreat (mainly cos of the queue and it was starting to rain :smt002 )

So, did everyone else get by the day OK, or what events did you see that could only be attributed to Friday 13th?

Ah, that's what it was!

When you're retired you don't pay much attention to the date.

Walked into the downstairs loo to find water spraying from the main stopcock - bad luck

Mike went next door to see if our plumber neighbour was home - not. Bad luck

Another neighbour walked by and said she had a plumber in her house and would send him round - good luck? Nope, he didn't have the right tools to deal with our ancient fittings so he just turned our water off and said he'd come back tomorrow - bad luck.

Still, soon after that the plumber neighbour returned and quite soon sorted the problem - still chaos in the hallway cos we had to drag everything out to take up the vinyl floorcovering to let the tiles dry out but that's a minor detail!
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

I managed to get my boss to agree to me leaving my job on the 24th..

I managed to also swindle a half day at work..

I managed to beat our crap computer system and get the required printouts for the armoury check so I could have the half day..

Sneaked a few hours kip when I got home..

Made dinner.. without killing anyone or setting fire to anything

Washed my clothes without fucking the colours up..

Yup I think I managed to survive the day quite well.

I got my terms and conditions through for my new job (which I have been waiting for two weeks) everything looks ok.
Told my present boss I am transferring over to the concrete side of the business.
Told him they would like me to leave the aggregates side on the 27th of this month and start on the 30th to which he said " well I think that is too early" :smt017
He walked off and took his football home :smt016
Went out for a few drinks with my brother as he is getting married next Saturday which was nice.
Apart from a manager who has been trying to persuade me not to leave since I told him I have had an offer within the business everything has been ok.
Tolerance will be our undoing.

Seemed to be a normal kind of day...
someone drove into the van and took out the indicator, repeater light and quarter bumper in the space of around 90 seconds while i was collecting a few recycling boxes.
beer fridge broke down in local shop, body temp lager, yuk
totally drenched on ride home
get home to find dog has puked in my bed, kitchen skylight has been leaking and frogs would be happy in my kitchen
At least no one tried to kill me on my ride to and from !!!!
Cleverly disguised as an adult !
