The incompetence and attempted daylight robberyof royal mail

#1 Post by wayno » Mon Jul 22, 2013 1:23 pm

I went off to the post office at lunchtime to post a tail tidy out.

The size of the box is 9" x 6" x 6", and weighed in at a little under 600g.

Now before I start I just want to remind everyone that recorded delivery is just normal delivery, with a signature on arrival, nothing else.

So I walk into the post office and queue for 10 minutes, get to the counter and ask to send this parcel by second class recorded delivery (this cost £3.50 last year). The nice lady tells me that they have now no longer offer the recorded service and that it has been replaced with special delivery (guaranteed next day, signature on arrival, shed loads of insurance etc. etc.). I ask her how much this is, only to be stunned when she says it'll be £8.50.

I tell her I'm not interested and that I can courier it for half that. She then tells me that if I prefer she could send it second class, with a signature. I'm sorry, but that's just second class recorded which is what I asked for in the first place!!! When she told me that would be £6.30 I walked out to arrange for hermes to come and pick it up, for the grand sum of £4.20, 2 day delivery time.

Thanks very much rip off mail/the pissed office.
Pass me a hammer, a spanner and a cuppa

Just wait till they're privatised, they'll be pulling your trousers down, bending you over and expecting you to pay for the privilege.

Surprised? No, I'm not!

If I have parcels to post and I go to the main post office in town, they try to charge me a fortune. So I say "I'm not paying that" and go to the little sub post office at the corner shops - where she tells me what the options are.

Strangely, the same options appear to be cheaper there...........

ditto I like being able to drop them off at the corner shop
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock
