Well yesterday i saw two bikers hammering down the m1 wearing tshirts, shorts, one was wearing sandals and the other trainers. Neither had gloves and both were weaving in between lanes as if they were standing still.
It only takes one person to not check the mirrors and in that situation you are a dead man.

Not riding atm but if I was it'd be full leathers, I wouldn't wear kevlar jeans, I'm sure they can get welded to your legs in a big offlazarus wrote:and this forum is populated by all year round bikers. What protective kit are you wearing to ride your bike in this heat?

Aprilia Jacket and Jeans. Boots, Gloves, Helmet, Eardefs
Normally if i intended riding anything like spirited or with others, i'd wear leathers.
Risk assessment made in my head. I ride inside my limits, defensively for the most.
My choice and acceptance of consequences

You want to watch out for BSE if you're wearing the leather ones too much.Gio wrote:Not riding atm but if I was it'd be full leathers, I wouldn't wear kevlar jeans, I'm sure they can get welded to your legs in a big offlazarus wrote:and this forum is populated by all year round bikers. BTW I rather doubt that given its properties, Kevlar will weld itself to your legs

Kevlar® reacts well under a tensile force (stretching force) but badly under a compressive force.
To be honest do we worry about the fire element, when we might be t-boned/clipped/rearended, I don't its the effect you might get from slidding down the road.

90mph slide until
stationery (no impact),
couple of rolls near the
end. The outer fabric
makes it look bad but the
worst you can say about
the para-aramid fibres is
it looks slightly fluffy and
a bit grubby - it would
be good to do exactly
the same again. Highly
recommended.

errr - I was responding to the idea that you might get welded to it - ie it melting!Gio wrote:and what about this further in?D-Rider wrote:You want to watch out for BSE if you're wearing the leather ones too much.Gio wrote:Not riding atm but if I was it'd be full leathers, I wouldn't wear kevlar jeans, I'm sure they can get welded to your legs in a big offlazarus wrote:and this forum is populated by all year round bikers. The main reason for using it is because of its anti-abrasion properties.
As for the properties in coompression. I think the human body inside is going to have some rather significant problems before the kevlar starts to fail.
