Fitting a sharkfin - drilling the swingarm

#1 Post by control_67 » Thu Jul 04, 2013 8:12 pm

This weekend I hope to fit a sharkfin to my falco, an also to fit the dual injector for my scottoiler at the same time. Obviously I will need to drill and tap the swingarm for the fin, but what size? M8 bolts fit the holes in the fin perfectly, but will that be too much meat to take out and I'd be better off with M6? What about some gert big self tapping screws?

I'm pretty sure I remember a bike or two on here having a fin so what have you guys done?

Just bolted to the fixing points that are already there ...... on the Mille swingarm.

Though I did fit a dual injector when I had a falco swingarm
I posted pics in this thread: https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.ph ... r&start=15

It's done and fitted now, two holes drilled and tapped to M6x1.0, bolted up with two stainless cap head bolts. I went for a shakedown run today and all is solid and looks good. The fin is from www.projection-components.co.uk, I also have their exhaust hangers. The company is run by a lass from another bike forum and their stuff is top notch, the cut outs in the hangers and the sharkfin match the cutouts in the heel guards nicely too!
