I managed to get a ride on Martdudes futura last year at the "Not a wake meet". And found the bike a pleasure to ride.
It has been no secret that I have been doing some work on tims mille over the last couple of weeks and I intend to take for MOT tomorrow.
So with this in mind I decided to take it for a quick run out and see if everything feels ok with the bike.
Apart from the obvious.... Riding position Etc , I wanted to see the obvious differences in the tuning characteristics of the motors.
The futura mille and falco engines are not worlds apart through the low Rev range. And pull well from low revs respectively.
The futura stays the same all through the rev range delivering the power very smoothly. The bike is no slouch though and in no time at all you can hit 80 mph.
The Falco seems to have a little more sense of urgency over the futura and pulls slightly better from 3000 RPM.
The mille is identical to the falco until the motor hits 6000/6500 RPM.
This is when a very noticeable difference comes in and the power surge is like a power band on a two stroke. Not a massive difference but you can tell why this was the Aprilia flagship bike.
Summary.
Having the choice I would be quite happy to own the futura and mille either has a single use only bike.
They are totally different but equally a pleasure to ride as the falco.
Over the last few weeks I have done the sprag and clutch jet on tims bike.
When the bike arrived it had a Gabro chip fitted. The chip was definitely not set up for this bike. The smell of fuel going through the engine it was way too rich.
Through tims instruction I fitted a different aftermarket chip. Again it was running too rich
I decided to fit the standard chip.
The bike runs lovely and smooth all the way through the Rev range.
On a final note..... Tim if you want to send the log book through. I would be very happy to own this bike.
