I'm going home I've done my time

#1 Post by Paulh » Fri Dec 22, 2006 12:22 pm

Turned off the emails, cleared my desk and just waiting for the annual end of year drinks and nibbles in the office before clearing off to the pub.

Christmas starts here (or at least some dodgy pub in Croydon)

:smt003 My last day at work (yesterday) ended in quite a surreal manner.

1. I was already on holiday and got called back in.
2. Swept the hangar like ive done for years.. like Penry, the mild mannered Janitor..
3. Escorted the Boss round showing how well the lads had cleaned the Hangar (all 2 of us as everyone else was detailed elsewhere)
4. Went and took part in the (compulsory attendance) Carol Service in the Gym
5. Got called out to the front and had 2 stripes shoved in me mitt by the Commanding Officer. (about time, I got selected ages ago :smt002 )

:smt003 Last days at work before Christmas are great! Missed the Regimental Christmas meal though :smt009 Always good for a full blown food fight

I hate it when people ask if you have a bathroom, I want to say "No we pee in the garden"

Naah.. Went from Lance Corporal to 'Full' Corporal. They promoted me (in selection) ages ago however have now made it substantive following a bit of footstamping and teddy throwing

I get to wear two Stripes now instead of one and have gone from a Section 2ic to Section Commander.

Im now about on par with a U.S. Army 'Spc' for physical rank related stuff, but Sgt OR-5 as far as the level and responsibilities of my particular (resources specialist) trade go.
