There's been a lot of bitching and moaning about Falco's lately so I thought I would post the following.

Went for a quick blast on Sunday, Allenheads via Allendale and then down to the back of Durham and back home to Newcastle.

100 or so faultless miles, it started well went like a train and I realized that my 10 year old tourer was well up to the mark.

One of the simple pleasures I had was scaring a few 4 cylinder bikes shitless, I was just rolling off the throttle to corner and then pushing out the other side, one guy actually asked if I was using my brakes as he nearly piled his twice.

It all goes to show that when these things work they really work very very well.

got my first falco 7 weeks ago, this weekend me and my wife took it down to brighton for the weekend hundreds of bikes were out and about and even being two up the falco was leaving most behind.

best part of the weekend was opening her up going through swanick tunnel just outside Brighton flying past 2 blades and a ZX9R drowning out their bikes with ease, i have fuel exhaust cans on the bike that sound superb and sound even better in the tunnel.

for a first weekend break i cant fault the bike it performed brilliantly oly slight criticism i could have is my falco still has the standard rear shock, its fine when im riding solo but with the wife on the back i can feel the front getting a bit light at times and a little bit bouncy on a few bends.

one thing is for sure thou i have had more fun on my falco already then i have ever had on any of my old Jap inline fours

change the rear shock and the grin factor increases massively

I dont have the best rear shock, its a white spring Sachs, that with decent tyres, I cant believe the lean angles I can now achieve.
And how you can wind it out of corners

Yep, no doubt a falc can upset Japs and Porche's

trivia for the newer members ..... the Falco was styled by the same chap that designed the first gen Audi TT.

Nice ride. .... went out over Stanhope and surrounding moors on Monday and bike was a joy faultless and sounding awesome

Mine remains faultless after 8 years of ownership (embarrassingly, on 15k miles though!), first real ride in a year took me two solid hours and 100 miles. Cat & Fiddle, down towards Matlock, then back via the Congleton road.

I've not done much over the last 5 years (due to family commitments), but the Falco was great, powering through corners and giving me loads of confidence. Didn't miss a beat the whole ride

Dunno where these stories are of Falco's going wrong, a few years ago they were (and still are IMHO) pretty bullet proof

Don' worry, mine is fine, no faults that I know of... Once I get time to service it and do the little bits I'll be out on it. Can't wait.

The falco is really the only bike that I have really enjoyed tinkering with.
Apart from the alarm causing issues on the first bike I bought, now removed it never misses a beat.
The oasis no problems at all just need to change the rear shock but no surprises there.
I think routine maintenance is the key to any bike to make it reliable.
Definitely fun to ride with tons of character and stunning looks

Well - my problem was, in the main , self inflicted

I still reckon its the best bike I have ever had

I still smile whenever I ride it ;)

Hey Browny - I was in Stanhope on Monday. Glorious ride home from the Lakes via Hartside Pass, Alston, Stanhope Thirsk etc. We were on the Tiger (shakedown run ready for France, with all the luggage loaded up etc). Hung around in Stanhope for some lunch but didn't see a Falco. It wasa lovely day to be on the bikes and I thought the roads were surp risingly quiet for a bank holiday.

And he got that right first time IMO. Even grannies comment on what a stunning bike the falc is ( sure I've left the gate open there for erm rhetororical comment )

As some of our members are grannies I will not say anything about your Hypothermia impressions... Especially as we turn a blind eye to Geoff and the sheep, random with anything with a pulse etc...

If the people on the fireblades and zx9r's had really wanted to play I don't think you would've come close to them(speed wise) and they probably had their baffles still in. (Although the falco with open pipes is a magnificent sound).
And in my experience with bikes(not huge experience ) the japs have always been more reliable and trustworthy than the Italian jobbies.

Like I said just playing devils advocate.
