Heli bars on

#1 Post by Shetland Woody » Sat May 04, 2013 4:41 pm

Spent today fitting my heli bars, went okay apart from after having them powder coated, the coating was a bit thick to pass through the fast idle lever causing a really tight lever, after removing the bar for the hundredth time it's all good now. Pity it's raining now :smt012

One other thing though is, I thought while I had the yoke and screen off etc i would fit my steering damper. I thought I would just find a couple of bolts to match and offer it up, but it turns out I must need a spacer for the end that mounts to the lower yoke and some sort of shim to go through the hole in the body of the damper, the hole in the head stock bracket looks like a 6mm but the damper body appears to need a larger diameter bolt. I looked up an aprilia spares page and the shims etc seem to cost a fortune for what they are. Any alternatives? or just cough up the extra lol

Cheers :smt001

Wow, went out for a run today, in the rain lol couldn't wait. What a difference! Bike feels far better for me. So much more comfortable :smt001
Flooded her too for the first time, don't know why I did it but I tried starting her with no choke, she didn't like that. Tried a few different combos to getting her fired up. Eventually fired with throttle full on. Made me cringe.

Feels like I'm going to enjoy her even more now :smt001

Have a look there - explains it and you can see what you need

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Actually, they are not what you expect .... Been a while but iirc there are shoulders etc involved to allow movement
