#1 Post by T.C. » Thu May 02, 2013 9:46 am

If anyone is thinking of attending the Hastings 1066 bike event this coming back holiday Monday, then drop by the McMillan Williams stand and say Hi. I will be there :smt009

Not sure until I get there.

I have to look for our van and my colleagues when I arrive

For me it was a long day.

Was up at 2.30 in the morning, out of the house at 3.45 am, arrived in Hastings at 6.15. Long day, met lots of people we ran out of all the giveaways by early afternoon, left Hastings at about 6pm and went via East Grindstead rather than up the A21 as I thought it might be a little easier and quicker.

Got home at about 9pm, had a cup of tea and I think I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.

Woke up this morning with a very crusty forehead though. That will teach me not to wear a cap :smt009

Apparently the organisers said that the foot count was in excess of 58,000 and they reckon there were about 30,000 bikes, so good numbers.

Hi T.C. I did look out for your stand but didn't see it. Was it near Bennetts at all or MAG

unfortunately we never made it down, we rode from portsmouth to brighton on sunday lunch time spent the day there, we had a B&B already booked so thought we could have a nice lay in monday morning and leave for about 9 to do the 40 minute ride in to hastings.

when we went to leave thou my dad couldnt get his daytona to start, when we investigated we worked out that when he parked up on the monday and put his steering lock on he had turned the key one notch too far and put the side lights on, we just didnt notice them on in the bright sun light of the day by the time we came out monday morning the battery was flat as a pancake it couldnt even power up the dash.

unfortunately by the time we had worked out what was wrong it had already gone past 10 am with no jump leads we had to call the RAC which took a hour and half to get to us due to being so busy.

it was almost 12:30pm by the time the RAC left us with the bike running we decided it was too late in the day to go to hastings so just had a ride back to portsmouth with a nice stop off in Arundel for a drink by the river.

really gutted was so looking forward to getting there and seeing all the bikes and people .........Oh well i suppose there is always next year

No, that was the Pelham Car Park (which we were originally scheduled to be located) but they (the organisers) switched us to the town centre at the last moment, so we were with Laguna Motorcycles, Swintons Insurance and the like.
