Needle Bearings - Dog + Bone

#1 Post by GregD-UK » Sat Apr 27, 2013 1:04 am

Hi all,

Anyone know the size of the needle bearings in our dog + bone? Aprilia takes forever to supply parts :smt013

Looking for a local supplier, if I can get the size.....

Cheers.
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

a good read there would be an idea.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Nearly a nice find but they are the wrong type of bearings in those kits - they are the caged variety (for high rotation speeds) not full compliment (for higher loads)

..... that said I have fitted some caged ones to mine as I couldn't source the full compliment bearings when I needed them .........

DoH!

Didnt realise I'd posted the following in Aprilia Tech rather than here:

Bearings supplier: (already posted by Shootmyscoot)

Torrington HK1812V. (6 needed for full set)
If any one needs them they can be got from Motion Industries
Address:

Motion Industries,
Unit 2,
Bracken Trade Park,
Dumers Lane,
Bury,
Lancashire,
BL9 9PE

Telephone: 0161 705 1237 (£8 each now inc VAT)....

Posted by me...

"Big Sweaty Bollox...

Ohlins shock upgrade going in (AT LAST) and discovered that not only is there quite a lot of forward / back play in the needle bearings in dogleg but that the tube that fits into the housing on the swingarm was almost seized and on removal the needle bearing fell to pieces...

On closer examination it appears that NO fugin SEALING RINGS were fitted on the shock linkage AT ALL - thanks

So I can see where to get the Torrington rollers from but does anywhere sell the seals and 'gudgeon pins' separately, please?

Cheers - Frank

Oh yes, suggestions of how to fit the rollers without removing the swingarm much appreciated....

Freezing the rollers overnight maybe?"

dust seals:

"Item 11 AP8110068 8 Needed Oil seal - D18x24x3

as found on:

http://www.apriliagenuineparts.co.uk/co ... s-3670.php "

=====================================================================================

Just in case its of use, Motion industries not only sell the Torrington bearings off the shelf but also sell Nitrile seals in the right size.

Cost me £70 !!!

For a full set of seals and bearings but at least I know they are as good as can be.

Just ordered a connecting pin from Aprilia Performance as one was damaged and thats another £12.

I hope there are no extra tools needed for removal / install :(

=====================================================================================

Ive ordered a removal tool for the swingarm tube - anythign else needed or anyone know how to get the new bearing in, please?
