1098 swingarm...

#1 Post by GregD-UK » Sun Mar 17, 2013 11:05 pm

Hi all,

Can we fit the a/m swingarm to our falco? Just curious, I know the running gear has to be fitted as well. Guess, the shock connection points are critical, if they need rewelding, that would be a job for NASA :smt003
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

In my experience, almost anything can be made to fit into / onto anything else. Whether it's a successful marriage is another question... :smt003

The first step would be to get out a measuring tape / rule and find the dimensions of the 1098 'arm and compare with the Falco frame. Only then can you start looking at shock absorber mounting points, etc.

Maybe do some work with PhotoShop beforehand, just to get an idea of what it would look like.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

I think a custom down pipe maybe required. Not looked at the 1098 swingarm so not sure which side the shock fits.
Tolerance will be our undoing.

Just Wondering...

Hi all,

In reply to anzac, seen a gold powder-coated one on fleebay, and thought about a single-sided setup. Seen one on a mille online ages ago, looked quite smart and different of course :smt002

Will go up too M+S on the hill (Local Bike area) and take my tape measure with me....

Have a man that can do the exhaust mod and he can weld ally as well :smt003

The speedo pick up might be another issue you need to consider, but it would look pretty sweet

#9 Post by GregD-UK » Wed Mar 20, 2013 10:05 am

Hi all,

Yes, speedo might be a problem. Kwackerz, some duc parts are cheaper for our bikes sometimes :smt002 But, I kinda understand your statement....

Picking my painted plastics up today :smt003 Went with a good colour methinks, subtle is the word. Are you guys down south/midlands meeting up next month?

lol

you have not seen whats in my reserve garage..... once i have finished taking the engine out - again as the bloody hobbit now wants it back out, i will post some photos of what happens when a liquid cooled two stroke does not have any liquid.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
