Diversion 900

One of the lads at one of the asphalt plants turned up to work on A 1995 Yamaha Divesion today. Looks a very comfortable bike for not a lot of money.
13,000 miles from new and the bike looks very good for the year. Obviously not been run through the winter.
Has anyone on here had one. What are they like for touring and has the engine got plenty of torque.

I was looking into getting one several years ago; learned that earlier ones were prone to gearbox problems, but the problem was sorted on later - P-reg onwards, IIRC - models.

Dunno about divvies. I always thought the RF900 was really pretty though. With the Ferrari grills and War of the Worlds tail light.

Used to work with a guy that had one. He did a lot of miles year round and rated it a good practical bike. Not sure which year it was though.

A friend from work used to have a divi 600. Think it was quite a good bike but he was always a bit embarrassed about it. He upgraded to a street triple.

Oh - and he is French (but not Dawn)

I rode the original shaft drive XJ900 (pre Divi moniker) in France in the mid 80s and it was a very comfy, touring style mile-muncher. I know that the Divi 900s does have a hard-core following, in fact there's a guy in the next village to us in France with one, and he and his missus really like it. Depends what you want, really. I don't think they're torque monsters, just an easy to ride, sufficient power, does what it says on the tin type bike.

i had a diversion 600 for 5 years used her every day for work put just under 60k on her, she never ever let me down once in all that time all i did to her was chain tyres and plugs, the engine on the divi is pretty much bulletproof its not exciting but you can do mile after mile and get off with out any back ache

its a bit of a ronseal bike it does exactly what it says on the tin

Mate of mine had a pre-divvi XJ600, she used it all the time for work (mobile hairmesser) and play - rallying all over the country with her 10 year old on pillion and all the camping gear, I don't think it ever let her down.

She may have let it down once or twice but that would be due to a combination of muddy field and excess camping gear!
