GSXR Steering Damper
Hey folks, quick question which is pretty much the subject title....
Will a gsxr steering damper fit the Falco? Its just that they look very similar...
Im looking at 600 and 750 ones.

i believe, but could well be wrong, that it is the mounting kits that are specific - and is why generally folk go for the mille part - either the cheap sachs red unit, or the ohlins one. The falco frame is already fitted with the mounting points
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
So... it possibly could... From searching I notice that someone has fitted the gsxr thou one to an rst i think it was...
I was just curious if the gsxr one would be long enough? I know very little about steering dampers to be honest.

tbh there is also a school of thought that questions the need for one on the falco - I only fitted one after i fitted my bars over the triple as it was sometimes a little light......
I would be tempted to call an ohlins specialist and ask them to compare the parts - ensuring that the stroke rate etc is the same

Only reason Im fitting one is I now use tyres from a racer. ie Road legal track tyres that he uses for practice/qualifying then sells on... Im a bit worried about stability issues seeing as they are generally less stable than proper road tyres...
Think for all the price is of a gsxr unit is I may just buy one and try... I know the oil can be changed quite easily so can drop in heavier stuff if its too soft...

i think - but please do check that the aprilia ohlins has the following:
stroke 120, min length is 34.5mm and maximum length is 335.5mm
perhaps a search for the suzuki item would be worth doing?

Hahaha, the timing couldnt have been better. It was about that and a deal has been made. I'll leave the guy to mention whats sold in his thread.
I found some info on gsxr though... Some have 63mm stroke and some 65mm... Thats as far as I got...

This got me thinking about getting a damper, but I started looking through eBay and they seem to be in short supply. Well the red one is anyway, the only one I found was in America and although it was quite cheap it said it would be eligible for import tax and I've been caught out before with that. So I'm passing on that one, I think I'll keep my eye going though.

look for aprilia steering damper - NOT mille steering damper
as some here are aware my ohlins was advertised as being for an rs125..... I was devastated to pay 40 quid or so....

Are all the aprilia ones the same then? I don't even want a damper but having one makes the bike look like it's ridden hard :)Aladinsaneuk wrote:look for aprilia steering damper - NOT mille steering damper

Pass me a hammer, a spanner and a cuppa
So well hidden on the grounds that it doesn't existCathcart wrote:You know the damper is relatively hidden on the falco? People wont really see it unless you point it out.

That said, you are quite right, the mounting points for those that can't live without one are well hidden.
