clutch slave oil seals

#1 Post by johnl » Tue Apr 17, 2007 3:02 pm

They appear to be about £18 each. If I could get them for £5 each, but I would need to do a bulk buy who would be interested in taking a few ?

My supplier indicates that they may not be suitable for DOT 4 thats why the oil goes black and the seals last about 12 months

Thanks

Are you talking about the standard Falco clutch slave?

If he says they're not suitable for DOT4 what are they supposed to be ok with? And why would you buy them if you use DOT4 ? :smt017

Haven't had any seal problems yet (touch wood) but could be interested if said seals are pukka.

I`ll check out what oil they are ok with but it would explain the fluid turns black. I have a few samples coming over so I`ll see how they fit. The experience I have had with the standard seals is that they weep a bit then go like a nose bleed and you loose all the fluid rather quickly

I have had to replace my clutch slave cylinder seals twice, last lot only 3 weeks ago!!

You can tell they are beginning to go by looking at where the
cylinder joins to the engine body while pumping the lever, I noticed little bubbles forming.

So bike is now on it's 3rd lot since being born.

Aparantly, fitting the Evoluzion jobbie cures the blackness, leaking and best bit of all, arm pump from that damn lever. :smt003
