Bizarre conversation when ordering spares

#1 Post by Fausto » Mon Apr 16, 2007 6:02 pm

I may be just being dim here but I phoned Aprilia Yorkshire to order bearings and it went like this........

Me - " can you tell me if you have them in stock"
Him- " we've got a few but there are several orders going out so we may need to order more"
- " Ah. Ok. How long will it be?"
- " We had the last lot in on 12th March"
- " but when can you get these in?"
- " Well the last load came in in March"

I'm getting confused now :smt017

- " so are you saying you've got them then?"
- " no. They will be going out on outstanding orders"
- ".... erm right.... so when can you get more in then?"
- "well like I said the last lot was in March and before that we had some in January"
- " so it could be another 2 months?"
- " hard to say"

I gave up here and ordered them from the Rocket Centre. 7-10 days they said.

Thing is he was really nice and polite but I just couldn't get on his wavelength. Is it me ? :smt009

Dunno what you mean :smt017

Although I do remember going in to Belton tyre and exhausts and asking for an exhaust for 'that red transit over there' *points*. " sorry mate, we've only got them in stock for blue ones."

Much laughter ensues from everyone except me, who disolved into a puddle of embarressment. Least they remember me when I go in now though :smt001

You have to sell this one to a comedian, maybe the next Mr Bean movie? Or better : TopGear?

In a similar vein .... I was at a conference for the navigation systems industry in Berlin last year. The speaker was talking about the trends for storage media for maps.
"CDs are declining, DVDs are more popular and we're about to see a vigorouse introduction of Hard Dicks ....."

Well, there I am in a room full, in the main, of Germans ..... and I'm the only one who noticed the missing "S" and am absolutely creased up ....

Andy,
Was this the order for the hard dicks from Berlin, the big squashy baps, porn or possibly the Falco bearings on next day delivery? :smt017 :smt002 :smt017
Strange how threads seem to wander, I do get confused at times, must be my age.
