Clutch jet help !!!!!!!!!!!!

#1 Post by eddievtwin » Sat Nov 24, 2012 7:21 pm

Well guys decided to change my clutch jet today after getting a new one from the Griffmeister , all went well until I tried to remove it , on closer inspection some one had been there before me and some how had chewed the slot up on the jet , so where do i go from here any advice how to get it out ?. Wondering about drilling then jamming a torque drive into it ?? . Only get one crack at this I think oo err

At the risk of sounding like Andy I think this has come up before and may be found by the search function sorry but limited digit use today so struggling sorry
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Haha - it's amazing what a bump on the head can do for a chap

Yes it has come up before - in fact I seem to recall Pete had just such a problem and eventually gave up - deciding it better to live with the one that was in there rather than risk a complete disaster.

Other than that I can't really comment as mine came out fairly easily ... good for me but not as a learning experience to pass on to others.

Yep

Hanna's had been badly mauled - and it was griff who after trying suggested leaving it alone.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

You could try an ezy-out but its a one way ticket. Once you start, you have to finish

It all depends on how badly it's chewed. If it's obviously too far gone leave it be, if there's some slot left, try sacrificing a larger screwdriver and file it down till it's the best fit it can be. If thats not possible i would leave it be. If it aint broke don't fix it springs to mind.

clutch jet is unknown territory to me.....
Easy out mis haps are not.
Im guessing the jet is made of steel fitted into ally, if so when the easy out is tapped indo part to be removed it causes the part to 'spread', the surrounding ally gives and you can shear the extractor off in the jet.

I see your problem, they normally don't have whacking great screws stuck in them. :smt002
