Update on Admiral Insurance & Speed awareness courses
This article has appeared in the Mail today. It is an update making the point that many Police Forces have now withdrawn the promise that attendance on such a course will not affect their insurance premiums.

Might have an effect on whether people choose to insure with Admiral etc though!Admiral Group’s director of communications Louisa Scadden insisted;’‘We are not putting lives at risk. It is not our pricing that has a cause or effect on whether people choose to speed.’
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
A negative response from the police to this then.
I wonder why they (Admiral) feel the need to introduce this as a risk factor on which they base premiums rather than the many other risk factors that they will doubtless not be including?
However as their own info suggests 3 points adds only about 5% to a premium, this is not going to be of great significance ..... nothing like the loading you get for daring to be a bit young.
..... and what's more .... they've now introduced the black-magic approach to speeding ..... one mph over the limit and your body will wither

The AA said any insurer which penalised drivers on speed awareness curses – as Admiral is doing - had ‘failed in its moral responsibility’ to encourage drivers to reduce risk

I don't find this as objectionable as insurance companies penalising non blameworthy drivers.
My wifes' car was hit by a 4 x 4 wielding female who was found to be 100% blameworthy (the other driver was prosecuted).
When her insurance came up for renewal it went up 30% because, as the insurance company said ' once you've had an accident you're more likely to have another'.
To add insult to injury MY insurance later went up because my wife was a named driver on the policy.
ALL insurance companies are robbing b**tards.

My wifes car was reversed into in a car park... No one was in the car at the time. Lucky for us the lady stopped and let us know...Very good of her.Chabby wrote:I don't find this as objectionable as insurance companies penalising non blameworthy drivers.
