Claims and legal fees
Thought you may be interested in this as one of the many gripes made by claimants and defendants alike in road crash cases is that the only people who seem to make any money are the Solicitors.
About 12 months or so ago, fixed fees were introduced in lower value end claims, well these fees are to be reduced again.
The chances are that before long, smaller or lower value injury claims will only be handled by insurance companies as there will not be many law firms who will be prepared to take on cases where it might mean that they cannot represent the client properly, or they will be handled by non qualified staff (which is already starting to occur).
Some of you may say "About time" but there is a risk that you will not be able to get proper legal representation of your choice in the event that you suffer anything less than a serious injury
For the purposes of clarity, the proposals are that fixed fees in portal cases are to be allocated as follows:
RTA claims up to £10,000 - £500 in total
EL/PL claims up to £10,000 - £900 in total
RTA claims between £10,000 and £25,000 - £800 in total
EL/PL claims between £10,000 and £25,000 - £1,600 in total
EL/PL stands for Employer Liability and Public Liability for those who were wondering.

The portal system was introduced about 18 months ago and is an online way of dealing with claims within the insurance legal sector, in the main for low value injury cases where liability is not disputed.fatboy wrote:
What are portal clases TC ?
It is the insurance version of the conveyor belt system for handling claims because you are literally a number and nothing else.
This wouldn't need to have happened if it weren't for all the folk who go way over the top in false/exaggerated claims. I.e. they are now terrified of motorcycles, can't drive due to fear, won't use that road again, sore back for years after a tiny rear end knock... Etc etc.
Its these folk that are screwing all our insurances and making these claim caps get introduced. Now genuine claims are being capped...
Same is going on with folk tripping over kirbs and slabs. Common sense is all gone...

To be fair as indicated elsewhere not always the case if tgings were handled more efficiently by the whole sector and with a more equitable basis
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
