making my way to work and had to make an unscheduled stop to gas up and I see two midgets in full stab proof as I believe I mentioned elsewhere ... well a couple of days later stopped nto gas up and a new set of doughnut goblins stocking up... in uniform of course why do your shopping on your own time ... which got me wondering is there a facebook site or game for spot a copper if so I saw some having a half hour coffee sorry I mean planning and process consultation...

anyway just wondered if there was a game tro be had in there

Read last week that a kid had his phone confiscated and the pictures he took deleted after he snapped a pair of plod in a coffee shop.. While on duty, of course.

It would make a pretty cool sport though. Trouble is, we rarely see the fuzz around here, so think I may be a bit behind if any sort of 'league' crops up.

I don't think it does any harm to see more uniforms on the street/in the cafe/cake shop.

The unhappy ones are those that have something to hide.

Would make a good game though

I agree.
everyone is entitled to a break once in a while.They just choose to take theirs in a coffee shop.And while they are there,they are still "on the job".If they went back to the station it would take them 15-20 mins to walk there and the same back.

(but yeah it would make a good game).

when was the last time you saw a policeman if you think they walk anywhere

and the way it used to work was that was factored into their route.

theyre always walking about the shopping area in yarmouth,normaly in pairs.

We get them walking about round here. The unpopular ones get to walk round on their own. When I lived in Blackheath, which was the sort of place that axe wielding cyclepaths wouldn't go out alone, you could play spot the unpopular copper. They'd get dumped all alone on the high street at night by a police car that then sped off to safety.

Back in the good old days in Hulme they used to go round in staggered groups so when the first couple got jumped the others could call backup

Only time I had to ride a bike up to a 4th floor to park it in a kitchen

Ah, the axe wielding cyclepath. I know they're scared to go out round here too but that's because they're bright green and you can spot them a mile off. Normally having an argument with a rambler.

Sorry, someone had to!

Personally I've a lot of time for coppers, suppose being i nearly ended up in the force (didn't because I decided I could make more money doing what I do now and without the hassle) and most of my mates are coppers. It isn't an easy job and takes a very thick skin to deal with some of the shit. A friend of mine deals with peadophile crime in the north east and must see some horrific things. I don't know how he keeps his hands off the perpetrators. I'd be making sure they tripped over en route to the slammer!

It ought to be compulsory for them to eat / take breaks only in public places. The less time they can hide from view in a police station canteen the better.

Over my lifetime the them and us divide has grown big. Used to be the case you knew your local plod. They lived in the police house down the road. They stopped and chatted to you. Now they just pass by in the patrol car, insulated from contact with normal people. Not good for them and not good for us.

All IMO of course. Would be interesting to know TC's view on this.

The only time i needed my local plod was to go with me to fetch my stolen motorbike back.
I knew exsactly where it was has i had a tip off.
Unfortunatly he was too far busy because he had to interview someone,(must have been really important).
Anyway i had to go on my own.
Funny enough when i fetched the bike back he was more than happy to come and check the bike was mine (That was kind of him)
I just know that the police would not use it has a solved crime to help their statitics......Would they

I have no respect for the police has they don't seem interested in solving real crime.
They only seem interested in catching speeders has its easier to get a "fair" cop and they meet their targets. Oh yes and the revenue from this

For me policing in the modern age is by consensus more than ever. By this I mean if 95% of people weren't more or less straight they couldn't manage.

To do this they need the consensus from that majority that they are most visibly targeting with their cash crimes. This just heightens the sense of disenfranchisement that these people have.

In other words they are just targeting the people whose support they need most. They said recently that 95% of the police don't feel supported by the government. Ah that's a shame my 85 year old neighbour just got on with being a copper.

I'm sure there are still some good ones I just don't see them all I see is Mickey Mouse midgets in4x4 jeeps buying crisps to eat while they spend an hour on the motorway bridge acting as a deterrent no doubt

As an aside why do they need a 4x4 and why a BMW ?

Most forces have a few 4WD vehicles for the occasions when they're needed - but they can't afford to keep them in the garage, they have to do the job same as any other vehicle. As for the make - just depends where they got the best deal from last time they were buying!

last time I saw one round here it was to protect the olympic torch from marauding middle aged parents and they were not local police, in fact I'm not sure that local police exist
