Cat D - how much off the value?

#1 Post by MartDude » Sat Oct 20, 2012 4:59 pm

I'll shortly be putting the K100RT on the road. Is there a rule-of-thumb for calculating how much should be deducted for a vehicle being a Cat D write-off?
It flies sideways through time
It's an electric line
To your zodiac sign
I've got a Black and Silver Machine!

Not really.. I think it's more desirability dependant than anything. A Cat D Benelli Tornado Tre would probably still command more percentage-wise than a ZZR1100 which would probably command more percentage wise than an old BMW..

or do you mean for insurance purposes? Always overestimate by 800 quid, theyll only pay you their percieved worth anyway and the amount it's worth doesnt really impact on the insurance premium unless youre saying it's immaculate and ultra low mileage, etc
My old yamaha bws50 got insured at 1500 quid, it'd cost me 700, I got paid out at 900 when it was stolen and written off..
