Throttle Bodies Sync too much !

#1 Post by fastrider » Thu Oct 04, 2012 6:36 pm

Hi all :smt039

over the last 6 to 8 months I have noticed that my Throttle Bodies require regular syncing. This had to be done every several hundred miles but it's
now got to the point where I can ride the bike for maybe 200 miles and they are out of sync again. Meaning re-syncing every couple of weeks now.
I did them 2 weeks ago, (not ridden since), after riding to and from work on it and it was horrendous! Very rough and vibey, bad initial accelleration when
I opened the throttle from low (Village) speeds.

Has anyone any ideas as to what causes Fuel Injected Throttle bodies to go out of sync.

Is it possible that the rubber ring on the 2 Throttle ballance screws is not sealing properly and letting air in ? or semething else ?

I am at a loss now, and have been questioning myself about taking to a garage and get them to strip the bike completely (everything), and replace
any and all hoses they find, probably a bit extreme and more costly than the bike is probably worth.

The bike is the first model off the line (2000) and has done 57000 miles trouble free miles thus far, but my (Deep) love afair with her is starting to fray round the edges now....
I have owned her for around 10yrs to date... but.... !! :smt010

I regularly ride her fully loaded up (side paniers/tent etc) to rallies with my mate, and some a quite a distance, next one is just over a weeks time.

Help needed please :smt022

Shouldn't be going out of synch that quickly. Quick solution might be to bung another set of TBs on there ..... I do happen to have a spare set.

D-Rider
Thanks for offer, much appreciated. I have thought of popping round my local Machine Mart and see if they have a set of small rubber o-ring things I could buy to fit a slightly oversize one.

I did try coating them with high melting point grease, but has made no difference at all.
