As we know Aprilia never replaced the Falco, but what would be considered as a modern day equivalent?

That's the problem - there is no direct equivalent. The closest to my mind would be something from the KTM range. But as I have absolutely no plans to downgrade to anything else, it's not really a problem...!

no downgrades allowed

Just wondering as when I finish with this job and get my payout, I may invest in a second bike again.

If it's a second bike, you're allowed to go for something different.
Supermoto or somesuch - might suit you sir...

Already had a Husky SM610, and that was fun! Bloody tedious on the motorway though

Yes, I can imagine. It all depends on what the second bike's role would be I guess. Is it just to save the mileage on the Falco by doing the boring stuff?

No, once I finish this job, I will be aiming to travel no more than 20 miles a day to work. Plan is to work in Camberley if it comes off, or Bordon. I have looked at getting an older duc and maybe having a splurge at radical ducati

or I could be tempted to get a second Falco and go Falcuono on it. (No fairing chops though)

Ducatis are appealing (I know, I've got one), but they are hellish expensive both to buy and maintain. Perhaps hunt down an unloved Falco and give it some TLC while making something a bit different out of it?

There are many bikes I'd like to have alongside the Falco but I really can't think of anything I'd have in exchange for the Falco.
I'm in big trouble if I wear the thing out.

It has to be as well as the Falco. I agree with you Andy, I have had too many close calls with work trying to send me away and having to sell the Falco, but I am now in a position to start looking at what would be considered and equivalent to add to the stable.

I have posted before about a Benelli tornado tre, they are bloody marvelous

, i also like the triumph street triple.
I have never ridden either but i would imagine the triumph to be most fun and obviously the most comfortable.
Oh yes for v twin fun a gen 2 tuono

The only new bikes that would interest me now are:
Triumph Sprint ST1050
Ducati Multistrada 1200
Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport
But none really hit the spot properly and all are £10k +

Been looking at an X11 (or whatever they're called (the unfaired blackbird?))
Rather like the look of the Duc multistrada, its downright ugly, but grabs the attention when lined up with (beautiful) bikes
Maybe even get another GS1200, I really miss that bike.
