ok
that is an evo airkit
originally made by evoluzzionne though the company went tits up during a very messy divorce - the owner was / is a nice guy
I have run one and here are my thoughts, and where this kit is in terms of performance
First off our engines like to breathe - the K&N replacement airfilter will give an extra 2 or 3 BHP but the effect is noticible - the bike will pick up faster
next up is the Evo air kit - as listed above. This will give an extra 5 BHP - and also really picks up and moves. Many folk prefer this to the next alternative as it still has an enclosed airbox and may not suffer from hot air from the engine..... Downside is that the vasdeline used to seal the rubber lip will need to be reapplied a couple of times a year and that is never easy with our growing tanks!
Finally, the renegade air kit - also gives 5BHP but adds in the induction roar.... the roar is addictive and most owners grin like a pervo at a high school prom.... The downside, to some, is that there is no airbox at all and the bike may take in hot air from the engine.....
****
So - is the evo worth it - yes - though I recall paying around 60 quid for mine new 5 years ago....
Do i prefer the renegade - yep, damn right
would i also look at making my own one - oh yes!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
If running one of these and race cans would you need a new chip or power commander.
If you go with a Gabro or Dr Rossi chip do you still need dyno time to set up.
Which is the best route to go - I already have a PC fitted but disconnected by Griff, as when he serviced my bike for the first time he found that it had the PC on but the bike had not had the wire snipped, so concluded the PC would be a waste of time.
So at the moment, I am running standard airbox with Ackro slips on cans, with the PC off.
My plan was to take the bike to Griff to set up properly, but was also thinking about the airbox mod also.

if you are going to use the PC do all your mods first then you only pay for one setup
The standard chip with the cut wire can cope with aftermarket cans
The two chips have maps already on them
Gabro writes them to your setup
not sure about Dr Rossi but the one I have just got from Nick is set for open airbox and open cans.
that is all my understanding gleaned from here and elsewhere but I am to mechanics what Oliver Cromwell was to the Irish population boom

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

With all respect to my dear friend Griff ..... that's complete bollox!mickt1964 wrote: Which is the best route to go - I already have a PC fitted but disconnected by Griff, as when he serviced my bike for the first time he found that it had the PC on but the bike had not had the wire snipped, so concluded the PC would be a waste of time.
The PCIII adjusts the fuelling of whichever chip you have in there. Snipped wire or no snipped wire, the PCIII can be set up to give the same end result - it will just have a different map in it.
Where different chips can make a difference is when you start with one that has re-mapped ignition timing - such as a Renegade or a Gabro chip.
