Genuine aprilia tank bag

#1 Post by wayno » Thu Aug 23, 2012 8:46 am

Can any of you original aprilia tank bag owners tell me, how easy is it to fill the tank with one of these on. As you know with the baglux ones you just unclip one end of the bag and lift it up.

I don't want to hunt down an aprilia tank bag only to find you have to take the whole thing off to fuel up.

Cheers

easy

the forward mount, on the triple crown, stays in place

then slacken off one of the two rear straps - the bag will then slide so you can fill up

then close the tank, reattach the hook and then tighten the strap - simples!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Piece of cake. I've never even needed to slacken the rear straps - just flip off the front one from its mounting point.

Sod it, I decided that as I'd ordered a tank bag and got the panniers I may as well go for the full house and get the roll bag too. Looks like I shall be living 3 days of luxury at Le Mans as I now have enough storage to take my entire flat with me :smt001

ok

i will try and describe the original work around i did untill i bought one

in the top trriple there is a nice 14mm hole - you use it btw to take the top triple off - but, thats where we the tank bag connects too. The official apriilia part is a dinky little black plastic part, but as a work around....

head to B&Q or similar and by a rawl bolt that will fit into the hole. Also buy a longer bolt than the one that comes with the rawl bolt - you are also going to need a washer and a nut. Thread the washer on to the bolt and then apply the nut - this is what stops the strap on the bag from sliding off. Now postition the rawl bolt into the hole so it is just touching - use a set of snipe nose pliers so it does not move and then tighten the bolt in untill it locks

simples
