Oil change and Oil site tube
Any body help.
Just changed the oil and filter today, first time I have done it on this bike. Put in the recomended amount, about 3.8 ltrs I think. Ran the bike, on tick over, up to 96 deg, no oil in the site tube. Will this appear if I take it for a spin or is there a problem. I don't really want to put any more oil in until I get you guys opinions.
Ta very much in advance.

Hi
I changed my oil (about 3.8Lts) last weekend but oil was in the tube.
Did your oil pressure light go out? I take it, it did or you wouldn't have run it for so long.
It does state in the manual to take it for a 10 mile run, I don't know if this is to move the oil right through the engine under load or if this would sort your problem?
Sorry I can't be of more/any help

did mine last fri, and found that it took all 4 ltr, ran it till the fans came on, so hot enough.
I was surprised, but i did make a big effort to clear all the old oil and quite a bit more came out by moving the bike around and waiting a while, comes up about a third of the way up the tube when cold, so may have overfilled slightly but not by much.

I had the problem of the disappearing oil before, when the bike had sat for a while, did get a bit nervous about where it could be so I asked the Aprilia rep and he said its happens because of the dry sump.
Seems that sometimes the oil galleys are open when you shut the motor off so all the oil drains into the sump tank (no sign of oil in sight tube)
and to get it back out you need to ride it, idling doesn't work, bike needs to be moving to get it up.
As for amount of oil 3.8 lt is all you need anymore and your airbox is full of all, good trick is to put 3 and a half litres in, take it for a ride then top up oil after woulds

The problem with common sense is, its not very common
