Hoses

#1 Post by Falconihlist » Wed Jul 25, 2012 3:45 pm

after a trip to Nooj, we discovered after washing the bike down that the fuel return QR coupling is starting to perish, and a few of the hoses are also starting to wear out. Couple of questions henceforth,

Are the coolant group hoses the same as the Mille?

What are the best clips to use, OEM crimp, or Jubilee clip?

Cheers guys.

Coolant hoses are almost certainly a little different as it uses a different coolant tank which is located in a slightly different position. To be sure look at the part numbers on the Ultimate Parts website. :smt002

Dunno which lips are "best" clips - I tend to use jubilees as
  • 1) they are more readily available
    2) although I'm certainly no royalist, surely anything other would be highly inappropriate this year?

Cheers Andy, the coolant hoses will be in the future, as and when they decide to go. They are still flexible and in a good condition. I had a look at a couple of parts sites, 44 quid for the fuel return line pipe :smt017 and that was WITHOUT the coupling! Am off out later this week to a race team to get some fuel hose 6mm inner by 13mm outer for 2 quid a meter. Someone must have been on drugs when they thought of those prices :smt018

Agreed jubilee clips, far more practical than faffing around with one time clips :smt003

While you're at it, make sure that the new hose is Ethanol-resistant, as that unfortunately seems to be part of our future.

So I hear, once they screw us with ethanol, they will think of something else

Another tip make sure when you do buy your clips that they are genuine jubilee ones and not a cheap knock offs.
Genuine Jubilees are the dogs :smt045

you use them in those "little games" you told me that you and Sally like - are they better than the cable ties and thumb screws??

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
