have I missed anything ....?

#1 Post by fatboy » Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:53 pm

If all goes to plan my falco will be OTR early next month, she's been standing for over 2 years because of legal shit with DVLA.
My to do list is
new tyres
new chainset
new K&N
replace all fluid and coolant
replace blue spring pogo stick unit

Id only had the bike 3 months before DVLA revoked my license, therefore not that experienced in falco ways so if I need to add anything to the jobsheet please shout !

Cheers Paul

Not urgent but maybe a clutch jet :smt017
15 tooth front sprocket when fitting the chain set if travelling through town :smt002

Modded the original. When I bought the bike the kick down lug on the stand had been cut off (bent due to a spill judging by the ding in the zorst link)
I broke the stand kill switch with my boot !
Bigger foot plate and improved lean angle, longer kick down lug, looks good outside the workshop, see if it works every day !
Blinkey, I rebuilt the clutch slave just before it came off the road, so if it gives me any shit Im sure I'll be askin for advice.
Not found the gearing to be a problem, hate towns !
Just hope dvla dont give me any more shit over my license, now 31st year of riding without any claim made against me but still they question my fitness to ride/drive

When you mention the clutch slave did you replace the oil jet with a smaller one? (it's not in the clutch slave) i think thats what Blinkey was reffering too. It helps finding neutral :smt001

Plugs?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

New Battery perhaps? I've heard the Moto Batt (bright yellow ones) are good, not much dearer than a standard one.

replace all fluid and coolant ... and fuel ...
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Will think about the clutch jet later, clutch was performing fine as regards to finding N, hopefully still is fine
Battery replaced 3 months ago
Fuel, all drained, few litres of new used to confirm we had cracked the supply problem (broken earth in the main loom)
plugs...DOH ! ! !
must also pull apart the 'kill'switch and spray some contact cleaner about

this is why a second opinion is a good idea

ps In completely ignoranant of the whole clutch jet and associated pipe work, is there a tech thread ?

thats the tech thread called search - there is a rumour that before andy got anal about people using the search facility, his pubes had no grey in them at all

Mind you - it was a long time ago, so maybe Old Badger Pubes just got old?
