BENELLI

#1 Post by blinkey501 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 7:37 pm

When down ay the 1000 bikes festival i managed to have a good look at the bennelli tre sports bike and what an incredible looking machine.
I have been on a course today and called off at a benelli dealers and looked at a nice looking red one. 5 grand although i think it is the base model, plus 100 quid registration
When at mallory i asked the owner about the differences in the machines and the LE version has loads of carbon and light weight engine casings, And Maracheshi wheels
These LE versions were 14 grand brand new with only 150 made
He also told me the only weak spot is the alternator drive shaft which should be replaced.
I think when the timing is right i will be looking at one of these for my next bike not the LE to expensive. But to me they are stunning.............
Well they are italian after all.

They did go through a phase where build quality and reliability was shite. I believe it has been sorted but when you choose one, make sure you get a good one.

The allroader-inspired Tre-K 899 triple was very high on my list, but too rare to actually being able to find and test ride any second hand specimens!
Allegedly a bit of a hooligan, and comes standard with a quite vocal exhaust setup.. :smt007

Very lovely bike, that one.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

The original Tre was a trendsetter that has influenced the design of sports bikes to this day.
The current one looks to be continuing that. :smt001
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Tre is a bit of a crap name though. Sounds like it should have a friend called Shaz.

Yeah but, you start with a sweet looking, supple thing with big handlebars.
Next thing you know it's turned into an electraglide with slash cuts.

i think the original tre was pretty cool looking

the later one as pictured above 899 looks, to me, like a poultice

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Yes the original one was designed here by a graduate of Coventry University's Department of Automotive Design

Why trade the Falco in for a slower sports bike?
