Blue shock 'aint so bad.

#1 Post by HisNibbs » Sun Jul 15, 2012 7:32 pm

Just swapped the ohlins out and fitted the original sachs shock. The biggest change is the drop in ride height, the shock itself seems pretty good . Certainly it was the ride height loss that was most aparent as I felt realy close to the ground. Had to adjust my side stand several times to get it leaning the right way.

Mind you I've only done this swap out because when adjusting the chain I noticed about half an inch of undamped movement ot the rear wheel when i loaded it up with the spanner. Dog bone bearings shot. Think I've been running a friction damper at the rear for a few thousand miles or so. I've done a search and will be contacting bearing suppliers durring the week may even get the 50-60K ohlins reconditioned.

That's probably why the blue spring shock didn't feel so bad - you had got used to crap suspension on there anyway. Once it's all sorted you'll be reminded how poor that blue one really is!

I've only ever run the ohlins. The blue shock was in a box of bits when I got the bike. Recently I have been thinking the bike a little firm at the back. Siezed up maybe.

have you tried riding slower - perhaps that would help?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

If I went much slower I'd fall asleep especialy when I haven't had my afternoon nap.
