Driving a stick shift correctly is one of the most rewarding aspects of driving fast. If you are new to it, don't be discouraged by what initially seems extremely complicated. In England, 17-year-old girls are driving on the road with ease using a stick shift, and while they may not have mastered the art of heel-and-toe, I think it proves a point that with practice, you too can be mixing it up with the big girls.

... and the comments made I lol.

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Can't find your comments sam but yes, made me smile too! I remember teaching my 17 year old girl to drive in Mike's old Escort van with a really fierce clutch - never occurred to either of us it was too difficult, just something you had to learn!
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

Well I'm not a girl, but I learned to double declutch and heel and toe when I was 17. Had to use it during the driving test in my dad's old Mini van with knackered syncho cones. The examiner told me I didn't need to, as I shouldn't need to, but explained to him the synchro was sha***d, attempted a few changes without then went back to doing it for clean changes, end result was I passed, so must have got it mostly right.
Came in very useful a few years later with the rally cars.
Still occasionally use it now when going quick in the car.
It is one of the things that makes driving fun/interesting.
Even better without the toy pistol. :smt009
