Futura Double Bubble screen.

#1 Post by Robbo87 » Tue Jul 03, 2012 7:58 pm

Anyone tried one of these seen-on-Ebay Futura D/B screens?

If so, does it do the biz, or is it a pile of ill fitting dog poo?

I wonder who makes these? If it's Pyramid Plastics, it should fit ok, if it's Skidmarx, I'd have my doubts. don't know who else is making them these days.

Mine had an extended screen when I bought it, & I think it was a PP one. Although it was quite effective at sending the wind above my head, it was, IMHO, a bloody horrible looking thing, so I sold it. Possibly wouldn't look quite so bad in a lighter tint - Pyramid told me they could make one in any of their standard range of colours, given enough notice.

I replaced it with a Skidmarx standard pattern screen, & was a tad disappointed - rather thin & flimsy, & didn't fit very well around the headlight.

However, this seller does have a good feedback score.

Just checked my pic's from the Marches meet and see that you've reverted to standard there Mart' - and from your posted pic's I can see why, and what you mean about the black and raised snout thing being bloody ugly. Think I'll give it a miss, even if it fits well and performs o.k. I don't think I want the looks.

I had a D/B on my Sprint ST and that also looked about as tasty as a regurgitated dog's breakfast. Guess the style just doesn't work too well on a Sport Tourer.

Phil, after trying 3 other screens (the 2 mentioned above & a standard, cut down, with a laminar lip attached) I came to the conclusion standard is best - or at least the best compromise between aesthetics & comfort.

Thanks Mart', I bow to your Hobbitness's extensive, not to say expensive, screen experience and, cheapskate that I am, will follow your sage advice; thus saving more drinking tokens for next May.

Close - my paternal family 'came out' from the north east eons ago and moved to where the phrase 'animal husbandry' means many things - Wales. Dad wasn't exactly ewestruck with the place it seems, made it across the Bristol Channel to swede territory before you could say baaaaahhhhh, and started his own little flock in Devon. Must admit the old family genes were stirred a bit when flossie called out from behind the hedge at the campsite - blood thicker than water and all that.
