The winter refresh didn't happen and Malory is almost apon us.
With oil, oil filter and airfilter change done last week end, on my way to and from work this week through fast corners for the first time I noticed a few wayward tendencies. Felt like front end damping so I bought some fork oil. I last changed it about 4 - 5 years and 30K miles ago, also the rear tyre was on it's last legs.
Having replaced the tyre and changed the fork oil I had a little check over today. The head bearings should also be replaced so should the chain. I've ordered a chain but does any one know if the taper roller head races advertised for a Millie R would fit the Falco?
I think I'll get the chain done but not the head races in time for Malory.
I've experimented with the rear tyre and bought a Michelean Road 3 190/55 which does just fit. Why? Quite hard to answer realy as there was not a lot wrong the 180/55 2. Couldn't justify a sport compond front and rear swap out but more rubber is good no? Felt ok on the ride home.
I reckon all the rear linkage and swing arm bearings are suspect but it'd be a little late now to do anything for Malory. I'll need to order them in anyway otherwise I'll not get around to putting in Pete's swing arm for yet another year.
The BMW's gear box is still awaiting atention. What I do all week end is a question one should best not ask.
Oh and maybe going to just about clock 60K by the time I get to Malory. ( Well maybe 59 on the clock but then there was a period of a couple of months with a wayward speedo sensor.)
Seems to go better mind with uberpikey's ear pugs fitted.
