Used to work there and commuted through the centre back to Brum... not too bad on a bike, but a nightmare in the car

Hmmm - the one thing that does work pretty well compared to most big cities is the traffic system - the inner ring road is excellent unless you are unfamiliar with it and can't figure it out or cope with the short transition to the on/off ramps.
That said there are a few roads to steer clear of at peak times.

I shall be out there about 10.30.
Bright, calm and dry atm although we will probably get a few showers early afternoon ahead of the cold spell.
See ya'sall there. :smt001 Can't wait. :smt006

(Cov and Brum are heaven compared to Leicester!)

I used to work in Leicester also... now that was a nightmare off the M69 up Narborough Road :smt005

Its cold, wet and miserable here... I sure hope it brightens and warms up a bit... riding in cold damp weather ain't my idea of fun!

If it carries on like it is here in Lincolnshire, I'll be in the car... :smt009

Well its now pissing it down here, and its windy as hell...

Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of a car... Wifey needs it tomorrow for her trip down South :smt009

I'll wait until midday to see what the weather brings... but I've done my fair share of crappy weather riding and if it were 50 miles I could cope with it, but not 400 :smt005

Its a shame, the weather always has to put a dampner on things :(

Here is my baby, ready to rock!

norfolk weather update

lovely and sunny - a bit of a breeze but nothing major

i can see some clouds so we will get some showers i expect - but that is it

so - get the hell out of the smog areas and hopefully better weather :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I'm not riding safe or partying hard :(

Sorry the prospect of 200 miles of wet roads is more than enough to put me off, so have a great time and you'll have to mock my tent skills another time :smt005

What bright sunny bits????

200 miles of cold soggyness now mostly forgotten after a pleasant evening of good food, good company, deep and meaningfull Aprrilia techno babble (whoosh...) and into the early hours alcohol fueled general bollox talking which I did understand (well it made sense then!).

I got home mosty dry and hope you got a nice ride out.

Thanks to Samray as ever and to the delightfull Delia (aladin) Sane catering.

I'd like to say a very big thank you to Sam, Pete and Hanna for sorting out the Norfolk weekend - they did an excellent job.

Yes it was a bit wet and a bit chilly but nothing that should worry the majority (though we might aim for sometime closer to summer next time).

Although I only got there on Saturday morning I did manage to see everyone - which was nice.
Attendees were:

Samray
Aladinsaneuk
Malteser (Miss IOW TT)
Sheebee
HisNibbs (Hello Barbie let's go party)
Griff
BenWah
k1w1boy
Martdude
Oh, and me

.... and a special thank you to Pete for lending me his rainproof overuit to ride home after I discovered that I'd not packed my over-trousers - It made a huge difference to the journey home.

I only facilitated and vacillated, Pete and Hanna did all the work, and made a damned good job of it too.
My parting words to Miss Hypothermia were to get stuck into some pies and develop a layer of blubber like the rest of us. :smt020
Best dressed digit award went to Martdude who looked like ET but couldn't phone home until he retrieved his phone from China or somesuch.
Thanks to all for a great time, and for turning up despite weather forecasts. :smt012 Hope you all considered it worthwhile and didn't get too wet on the way home.
Must have been quite a trek for most of you.

p.s. I had a dry ride out there in the sun before the falco effect came into play, and a dry ride home after they all departed.

Yes, a very big thank you to : Saruman/Sam for working his special magic with the site;

and to DeliaPete for feeding us so munificently.

A special thank you to Sheebee for introducing me to the unique pleasure of tequila-soaked jaffa cakes.

And thanks to everyone for being such good company.

Oh, and a special mention for the Full River Chinese takeaway in Acle: not only did they have my phone, they took the trouble to ring my home, in an effort to return it. (Unfortunately, Gill didn't have any of your numbers to pass the message on). Good service!
