I've a small oil leak behind the sprocket cover. Not sure whether its the selector seal or the gasket from the cover in this area. What is the cover just rear of the clutch slave cylinder?

I need to give it a good degrease at the weekend to know for sure.

Leaks around there are normally due to the clutch slave seal giving up.

Not saying that's the case with yours but there's a good chance it is.

I was just about to say the above, check your clutch fluid level, I changed the seal in the slave and it solved it, seal costs about 2 pound odd, the postage was more than the seal cost.

If you can stand the weight of the clutch then just change the seal it's a piece of cake to do.
You can then get the slave cylinder when you have the spare cash.

The seal kit ( 3 years ago ) was just a bit less than half the cost of a new slave.

Well if you're sure, that's the plan for the slave cylinder on hold!

You wouldn't believe how many have sworn blind it was oil untill they eventually had to concede it was brake fluid ..... but it could be oil - maybe from the drain plug in that area.

We found this out with the hobbits Mille ..... He had a falco k&n which was crushed in the Mille air box, but was fine with a falco upper
Doesn't make much sense - by this logic the Mille one would be loose in the Falco and not seal well.

BTW the Falco K&N crushes a little in the Falco airbox - I have 2 and they have both crushed a tad.

....... which leads on to the fact that having 2 Falco K&N filters and currently using neither ....... I do have a spare Falco K&N that I could be persuaded to part with.

Only if you are having significant issues that can't be resolved by a bit of TLC on all the electrical connectors in the charging circuit (and probably the starting circuit too).
It really isn't necessary for most Falcos.

the filter we took out of the hobbits airbox was well crushed....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
